This qualification has been developed by the Children’s Workforce Development Council (CWDC).
It is built together by credits on the Qualification and Credits Framework (QCF). It is the nationally recognised qualification that the government recommends and will provide you with knowledge and understanding along with the opportunity to demonstrate yours skills as part of your assessment. You will feel confident in your ability to provide high quality childcare. To gain the full qualification you will need to obtain a total of 65 credits. To complete the full Diploma you will need to complete all the units in Clusters 1, 2, and 3 plus optional units depending on the number of credits per unit. ( listed in the diagram below which also shows you how to put the Diploma together).
To enrol you need to be at least 16 years of age and be working or volunteering in a childcare setting.
Assessment can be delivered online through our laser learning system or face to face and in a classroom. Assessment consists of a portfolio of evidence in various formats such as learning plans, assignments, professional discussions and direct observations in your workplace or settings.
The Diploma will include in the region of 650 hours of study and guided learning hours. These hours are delivered through one of more of the following methods:
1. Individual or group teaching
2. E –Learning
3. Distance Learning
4. Coaching and Mentoring
5. Feedback and Assessment
6. Collaborative /networking learning with peers.
7. Guided study
The hours also include time spent in your setting learning and working.
Enrolment is at any time for online or face to face learning. The sign up and induction process takes around two hours and we run regular sessions to fit in with your working hours .
Progression: On Completion of the Diploma for the children and young people’s workforce you can continue on to study for an Early years foundation Degree .
